Recipe: Croutons: Make your own croutons.

Summary: Making croutons is so straightforward and easy,  a crouton is simply a small piece of re-baked bread, cubed and seasoned. It’s used to add texture and flavor to salads or soup.  You can get as creative as you want, vary the seasonings to your own taste if you like.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 6 slices couple days old bread, cubed

Instructions

  1. Combine the first 7 ingredients in a 13×9 pan. Place in 300 degrees oven, until the butter is melted. Remove from oven and toss bread cubes to coat. Return to oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until lightly browned. Cool. Store in the fridge in an airtight container.
