Recipe: Maacroon(anise lady fingers) معكرون : Light and aromatic anise flavor.
Summary: This is the best way to bake maacroon without the need to deep fry them. Light but very flavoring.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 3 cups smeed (farina)
- 3 cups fluor
- 1 ½ cups oil
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 4 tablespoons ground anise seed (yansoon)
- 1 cup sesame seed, roasted (optional)
- ¾ cup sugar
- dash of salt
Instructions
- Mix smeed, fluor, oil, baking soda and sesame if using all together. Dissolve the yeast in ¼ cup warm water and ¼ teaspoon sugar. Let it rise. Add it to the smeed mixture with the egg and milk and knead. Shape like fingers and roll on a cheese grater to form a design. Place on an ungreased pan and bake at 350 degrees oven for 15 minutes or until light brown. Remove from pan and ip them in cold attar (syrup).
