Traditional Crushed Lentil Soup

This is a variation of another lentil soup, very tasty and healthy.
  • 1 cup lentil
  • 1/4 cup rice
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 loaf pita bread cut in small pieces and fried
  1. Wash the lentils and the rice, and cook with water for about 1½ hours.
  2. Transfer the mix into a food processor. Add 1cup water.
  3. Mix till you get a smooth soup.
  4. Pour back the soup in a pot, and add the salt, pepper and cumin.
  5. Brown the onions in the oil, and add to the soup.
  6. Cook for 10 minutes.
  7. garnish with little chopped parsley
  8. Serve with pita bread.
