Recipe: Baklawa rolls: Flaky dough and authentic pastry
Summary: This is a variation of baklava that is known worldwide. Flcky, tasty and delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 pound phyllo dough
- 5 cups blanched almonds or walnuts, chopped
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups attar
Instructions
- Mix the nuts, sugar and orange blossom water. Place 5 sheets of the phyllo on top of each other, brushing each layer with butter. Place 1 cup of the nut mixture on one end of the sheets and roll. Repeat with the rest of the dough. Place the rolls in a greased pan and brush with butter. Bake at 375 degrees oned for 1 hour, or until golden brown. Add the attar and let it cool. Cut each roll on an angle 1 ½ inches long and serve.
